PROVO CANYON -- The body of a 20-year-old Provo woman was found Thursday morning in Provo Canyon, and detectives are calling her death suspicious.
According to the Utah County Sheriff's Office, deputies were contacted at about 8 a.m. Thursday with a missing persons report for Hadley A. Boberg, 20. Lt. Tom Hodgson said the sheriff's office received a phone call from Boberg's family saying she didn't return home Wednesday night and she had indicated she might be going hiking up Hobble Creek Canyon.
After searching several nearby canyons in an effort to locate Boberg or her car, deputies found her vehicle in the South Fork area of Provo Canyon at the Big Springs Trailhead, and a few minutes later found her body on the ground.
Medical crews were called in, but emergency responders were unable to get a pulse or breaths from Boberg.
Hodgson said investigators don't know how long Boberg had been in the canyon when they found her and couldn't discuss any details about possible injuries because the investigation is still ongoing.
When deputies found Boberg's car they also came across a male wandering in the area. According to the sheriff's office, the male is an acquaintance of Boberg's and is being interviewed and considered a witness at this time.
Hodgson said the male isn't a suspect in her death at this time, and to Hodgson's knowledge he has been compliant with detectives working the case. His name has not been released.
