A motion to split up two child abuse cases filed by Mirna Acuna-Torres attorney’s has been denied.

Acuna-Torres is being charged with making false statements after she is accused of lying on the witness stand of her husband’s child abuse trial last year. She also is being charged with two counts of inflicting serious physical injury on a child and failure to report child abuse in relation to the case of her husband, Carlos Sandoval-Lopez. He was acquitted on 20 counts of child sex abuse after his trial in June.

Attorney’s for Acuna-Torres had wanted her two cases tried separately; that motion was denied during a court hearing Wednesday morning. Her trial has been scheduled for the end of March.
