PROVO -- Juan Alberto Leiva was enraged when his girlfriend went out with another man, a police report states, so he went to her home, shoved her in a car and took away her phone.

The report states that Leiva then drove the woman to a parking lot, where he ripped her shirt, bra and underwear. Later, when Leiva stopped at a light on 900 East in Provo, his girlfriend jumped out of the car and tried to escape. Leiva reportedly jumped out to follow and tackled the woman near 850 North and 900 East. Two passersby then intervened and Leiva shoved one of them, the report adds.

Leiva was arrested for kidnapping, a second-degree felony, and assault, a class B misdemeanor. The report states that he “admitted that he let out his anger by ripping her clothes, but not by hitting her.”

His bail was set at $10,000, cash-only.
