Orem police arrested Alexsander Fuentes Friday for stealing the Social Security number of a 6-year-old girl.
According to an arrest report, the girl’s mother reported the alleged identity theft in late December. A police investigation eventually led to Fuentes, who said that he had purchased an illegal Social Security card when he came to the United States 12 or 13 years ago. The report states that Fuentes used the stolen number to report $11,000 in wages during 2011 and $3,000 in 2010.
He was booked on one count of felony identity fraud, a third-degree felony.
