The National Weather Service warned of flooded roads in the storm-stricken area of Utah County Friday evening.

The National Weather Service has put out a severe thunderstorm watch for much of central and northern Utah, including Utah County, and upgraded that to a warning for Provo, Orem and most of the cities in southern Utah County, as well as Eureka, Tintic Junction and Fairfield.

Winds could surpass 60 mph in these areas and hail at least one inch in diameter has appeared on NWS’ radar.

The thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 11 p.m.

The National Weather Service has also issued a flood advisory for central Utah County from American Fork to Springville until 9:15 p.m. They are asking people driving vehicles in the area to be careful around streets and underpasses, as well as other low drainage areas and low lying spots. Drivers shouldn't attempt to cross areas where water covers the roadway.

Thunderstorms are likely all through the weekend, dropping high temperatures into the high 70s by Saturday.
