Newel Tidwell

MAPLETON-- Newell Leon Tidwell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully April 21, 2009, at his home.

He was born April 18, 1933, to Eva Larsen and Arthur Gustive Tidwell, in Mt. Pleasant.

He married Elaine Thompson Moon, July 30, 2004.

He just celebrated his 76th birthday with a barbecue, surrounded by his loving family. He loved the outdoors, hunting and taking care of his yard. He was truly loved by all and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Thompson Moon Tidwell; sons, Mitch Tidwell; and Randy (Liz) Tidwell; daughters, Diana (Butch) Alder; and Kimber Tidwell; brothers, Rex Tidwell; and Gerald Tidwell; step-sons, Duane Tidwell; David (Angela) Tidwell; and Richard Tidwell; step-daughters, Tammy (Brad) Kilpatrick; and Tasha Jensen. He was blessed with 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Newell was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Winkelman Tidwell; sisters, Melba Coates; Maureen Gaddy; LaRue Thompson; and brother, Elwood Tidwell.

Dad, Elaine says she loves you more. He is watering the lawns in heaven.

Graveside services were held April 25, in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery, under the direction of Berg Mortuary.
