During the last several of months, the sixth grade students at Sage Creek Elementary have been working hard, during their spare time, making hats. They have generously donated over 200 hand-made hats for the children in Nepal in addition to fun, simple games for them to play.

Valerie Littleton, whose daughter Melinda is a former student of Sage Creek, traveled to Nepal several years ago to climb Mt. Everest. Although she was expecting to fall in love with the beautiful nature and enormous mountains, she found that what made her want to return to Nepal again and again was the kindness and hospitality of the people.

Soon Littleton and Melinda will be returning to Nepal to take along hats, blankets, games and hygiene kits for the orphans living there. The average income for a citizen of Nepal is about 400 dollars a year, and it costs nearly 150 dollars a year for a child to attend school. To earn money for the privilege of attending school, children there are trained to carry almost two times their weight in baggage for hiking tourists.

The sixth graders of Sage Creek Elementary are proud of their work and can't wait to see pictures of the children playing with their new games and wearing their new hats. It has been a rewarding experience for the students and they would like to express their gratitude to Littleton and Melinda for helping to make this service possible. Everyone has something to give.
