A Salem man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murdering his wife.
Salem police officers were dispatched to 445 E. 300 South in Salem at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday for a medical call, according to Salem police. They found Teresa Scott, 45, dead inside the home. Her husband Tracy Aaron Scott, 47, was at the home when officers arrived on the scene, although he did not initially cooperate with police officers.
According to police documents, Tracy Scott told dispatchers he had shot his wife and she was dead, and he refused to put down his gun.
Eventually he was taken into custody at the residence and has been arrested and booked into Utah County Jail.
The Salem Police Department is confident that Tracy Scott acted alone and is the sole person responsible for the death of his wife, Teresa, according to a press release from Chief Brad S. James.
"The Scotts have a history with domestic disputes dating back a number of years," it says. "The police department has not been called to the home recently." Responding officers secured the home.
The Utah State Medical Examiner's Office will determine the manner and cause of death for Teresa Scott. At the conclusion of the investigation, the case will be turned over to the Utah County Attorney's Office for review.
