On Wednesday Oct. 7, Mapleton Junior High School hosted a district wide Special Education Extravaganza. This is the third time that MJHS has held this event. There were 234 participants that came counting adults, peer tutors, and the special needs kids.

MJHS had 145 peer tutors from their school alone. The peer tutors helped the special needs kids with some of the sports, hung out with them, and all the participants had a very good time.

Some sports from this event were high jump, standing long jump, archery, frisbee, golf, hurtles, softball throw, and of course the big dance afterward. Some of the MJHS peer tutors said that the dance "was the best part."

MJHS thanks Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Lewis for putting this extravaganza together, Mrs. Card for making the awards for the special needs kids, Service Learning and Student Government, Mrs. Workman and Mr. Beddoes 4th period P.E. class for serving as Peer Tutors, and MJHS for hosting it.
