This week marks the halfway point for the library's summer reading program. Hundreds of children, ages 2 to 11, have signed up to participate. They have set goals to read for a certain amount of time, and if they do, they get a prize each week.

There have been a variety of programs including a magic show and a Native American performer. Over 225 teens signed up for the teen program, and there have been professional artists teaching programs about photography and art.

A big surprise to the library has been the interest in the adult summer reading program. Almost 400 adults signed up and are working to complete a bingo card by the end of the month. Each "bingo" gets the participant entered into a drawing for a prize. Bingo cards must be turned in by July 30th to be eligible for the drawing to be held Aug. 7th.

The summer reading program would not be possible without the help of sponsors. Several local businesses have donated coupons to the library to give out as part of the children's weekly prizes. This week the coupon comes from Little Caesars and the library would like to extend a special thank you to them for their generosity.

Only barbarians are not curious about where they come from, how they came to be where they are, where they appear to be going, whether they wish to go there, and if so, why, and if not, why not.
