The Daily Herald has recently made some organizational changes, and with those we have decided to change the way we present opinions in the newspaper. This is a popular section, and we will keep bringing it to you, but we will no longer be printing a daily opinions page with editorials, wire opinions and cartoons. We want to have a more Utah County-specific page.
Instead, we will have an opinions page every Sunday, and it will be made up of community voices. We will publish letters to the editor and guest opinions from our readers and other members of the community, as well as the occasional debate between leaders on specific topics. The Herald will occasionally weigh in if there is an issue that affects us as a newspaper, but for the most part, we will focus on community opinions.
Heidi Toth's column, "Left in Utah," will continue to appear on Thursdays on an op-ed page.
We encourage you to continue sending letters to the editors to firstname.lastname@example.org, as these will be posted online throughout week and some will appear on Sundays. If there is a local leader you would like to hear from or a topic you would like to see addressed, you can email that to us as well. Additionally, opinion pieces from the wire will be on our website throughout the week. You will see new content on our opinions website every day, it just will not appear in the paper.
Our readers have been good at sharing their opinions with us, both through letters to the editor and online commenting, and we want you to continue to do so. We plan to remain the best marketplace for discussion and ideas in Utah Valley.
