For those still uncertain about Mitt Romney's Mormon faith, I can think of no more powerful antidote than to remind folks that the inventor of their main form of daily entertainment and news, the very medium which enables them to vent their concerns about Romney's faith, their TV set, was Mormon farm boy Philo Farnsworth.
I think the knowledge that perhaps the most influential invention of the modern age, beyond electric light, cars, planes and the telephone, would surprise a lot of people and perhaps remove some of the stigma about who Mormons are and what their effect on the country has been.
Wouldn't hurt to remind people of the fact that Mormons were the first settlers in eight of the 11 western states. That sports heroes Johnny Miller, Jack Dempsey, Dale Murphy and Steve Young were all Mormon.
And that Under Secretary of State J. Reuben Clark, who ran our foreign affairs while Secretary Kellogg was in France negotiating the Versailles Treaty, was an active Latter-day Saint. What more evidence do people want that Mormon leadership doesn't involve itself in national policyfi
