I am writing in response to a letter to the editor in the Feb. 28 edition of the Daily Herald.
The letter stated that the Life magazine insert should be removed from the paper because it ran an ad featuring a naked woman, and it claimed that nudity is synonymous with pornography.
Although I wasn't a fan of the Dove lotion ad featuring an elderly, overweight, nude woman, I doubt that many would consider the photograph to be pornographic (in other words, sexually enticing or stimulating).
If you were to remove the Life insert, it would only make sense to remove the Mervyns, Sears and JC Penney advertising supplements that feature considerably younger, considerably more attractive women in nothing but underwear.
We need not be too concerned about our children being sexually enticed by 300-pound grandmothers.
