Articles on hospice services, availability of health care services in our community, healthy living habits, all appearing in past Herald issues have been, I suspect, helpful for many of your readers. Mental health, dietary habits and quality of life issues have also appeared as subjects of interest.
In recognition of the many aged members of our community who are worried about their fixed incomes becoming less satisfactory in meeting their daily needs, wishing to be able to stay in their owned homes yet having to consider selling to get cash for necessities, I suggest you address alternatives to selling the one place that gives them a feeling of security, their home.
As a public service perhaps you might publish an article on the advantages and cautions regarding reverse mortgages. In discussion on this financial instrument for their consideration many patients have expressed hesitancy and suspicion for reasons that appear to me to be based on ignorance of just what a reverse mortgage is and how it can help them and their family.
