Beehive to Kindra Jones of Eagle Mountain, who was honored with a well-deserved "Tribute for a Hero" for founding Soldier's Promise, which aids soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder. The Home Depot, along with Dave Hall of Alta Vista Homes and dozens of volunteers, gave the Joneses a new backyard complete with playhouse, a finished storage shed and other features. Kindra is married to Staff Sgt. Mike Jones, who has served in Iraq and is headed for Afghanistan.

Buffalo Chips to motorists racing through the Interstate 80 construction zone near Salt Lake City. State troopers have written 3,000 tickets since the state cracked down on speeding there, according to news reports. It's one thing to maybe put the gas pedal down out in parts of Utah where there's not a living soul to be seen for miles. But in construction zones there are living human beings at work. Put some light music on, take a deep breath and ease up on the speed when you see those orange cones and barrels. Or contribute much needed revenue to the State of Utah. Take your pick.

Beehives to volunteers who turned out last weekend to help preserve Rock Canyon. Trail repairs were undertaken by Jim Knight with the primary assistance of Perrin Blanchard, Darren Knezek, John Ross and Angela Wright. They helped repair the trail and stabilize a hill at the base of a popular rock-climbing cliff. Other volunteers informed hikers about threats of a quarry at the canyon's mouth posed by a local land owner. This effort was spearheaded by Ginger Woolley, Katie Sereno, Sean Egli and Rachael Wadley. A number of local bands put on a benefit concert, and Monogram Station of Mapleton provided T-shirts proclaiming "Save the Rock, Save the Canyon." Beehive to the Rotary Club of American Fork for earning top honors in the state for the past year. The group recently received that recognition from the organization's district governor, Tom Powell. "The groundwork for this award has been laid over many years of hard work of our Rotarians," a former club president, Layne Garrett wrote in a newsletter. The club was recognized for their outstanding work with youth, international service, foundation contributions and membership growth.
