Lacey Laycock bounced the volleyball twice, spun it three times in her hands, extended her right arm outward as she stared toward the other side of the net.
Tossing the ball in the air, she jumped and delivered a crushing serve.
In fact, Laycock delivered 13 crushing ace serves on Tuesday night as Lone Peak defeated American Fork 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-15) in Region 4 volleyball, snapping the American Fork five-match winning streak.
Laycock begin Game 1 serving. After an American Fork return, Laycock picked up the first of her 30 assists by finding Hillary Olsen for the kill.
After the Olsen kill, Laycock rattled off seven consecutive ace serves to give the Knights the early 8-0 lead. American Fork struggled to pick up Laycock's serves all night long.
"It drops and she hits it hard." said Lone Peak coach Deanna Meyer of Laycock's serve.
American Fork clawed back and cut the Lone Peak lead to three at 18-15, but back-to-back kills from Faith Tusieseina stopped the Cavemen rally, and led to the Lone Peak victory.

The Knights just returned Sunday from participating in the Nike Challenge in Chicago, where they went 3-2 and finished 10th overall. Meyer was pleased with her team's performance Tuesday night, despite the fatigue from traveling.
