Mountain View

Baseball: Caleb Loveland hit his first home run of the season in the third inning of the Bruins' game against Timpview on Tuesday, but still, he doesn't have a home run this season. Loveland launched the ball out of the park over the center-field fence, but unfortunately for him (and for Mountain View), the umpire had called a balk on the pitcher and so the home run didn't count. Rather than a two-run homer, the runner on first moved to second and Loveland was still up to bat. He ended up walking.

Orem

Baseball: In one of his first games back from a torn hamstring, Tiger sophomore Harrison Gray made his presence known on Friday against Mountain View. Gray proved to be a Bruin killer late in the game when he hit home runs in his final two at bats to put Orem ahead for good in their 11-8 win. Gray finished the game with six RBI.

Boys soccer: The Bulldogs have lost four region contests, all by a single goal. Finishing has been the biggest problem in those games as Provo has scored only twice in those four contests.

Spanish Fork

Softball: During the impressive undefeated season thus far, the Dons have only been challenged three times. A 5-4 win over Hunter, a 7-5 win over Springville and a 5-2 win over Bountiful have been the only times Spanish Fork has failed to win by at least five runs.

Springville

Baseball: The Red Devils now have a team batting average of .375 and a team ERA of 2.75. Ben Doxey leads the team in hitting at .548, followed by Isaac Allred at .463. Kurt Averett has a 1.15 ERA, lowest among pitchers with more than 10 innings.

Timpview

Boys soccer: The Thunderbirds and visiting Springville didn't only have to battle each other in their contest Tuesday evening but they also had to deal with a stiff wind. The wind was strong enough at Timpview's stadium that one of the goals tipped up slightly, forcing the game to be delayed while T'Bird staff members placed weights to ensure the posts didn't tip over.
