SALT LAKE CITY -- Luke Nevill scored 10 of his 20 points in the first 4 1/2 minutes of the second half to lead Utah to a 79-60 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay in the first round of the Glenn Wilkes Classic on Tuesday night.

It was the first win of the season for the Utes (1-1), following their embarrassing opening loss to Division II Southwest Baptist.

The 7-foot-2 Nevill sat out much of the first half with foul trouble but had no problem dominating the smaller Phoenix (0-1) after halftime. He also grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked three shots as the Utes outscored the Phoenix 19-6 over a nine-minute span to take control.

Terry Evans led the Phoenix with 15 points, while Chop Tang added 12. Luka Drca recorded 16 points and Carlon Brown 13 for the Utes, while Kim Tillie had eight points and 10 rebounds before fouling out.

• No. 15 Arizona St. 59, San Diego St. 52: At San Diego, James Harden scored 18 points and helped No. 15 Arizona State take control late in a victory over scrappy San Diego State.

After trailing most of the game, the Sun Devils (2-0) made three straight 3-pointers to go ahead for good. Rihards Kuksiks' long shot tied it at 44 with 6:04 left before Harden hit a 3 to give ASU just its second lead, 47-44. Kuksiks hit another shot from behind the arc for a 50-44 lead.

ASU outscored San Diego State 18-8 over the last 6:27, including five free throws down the stretch by Derek Glasser.

UNLV 73, Texas-Pan American 48: At Las Vegas, UNLVs DeShawn Mitchell had 14 points and Rene Rougeau added 12 points to lead the Rebels to a victory against Texas-Pan American.

The game featured four ties and five lead changes in the first half, with UNLV only making 35 percent of its shots. But the Rebels shot 42 percent in second half to outscore Texas-Pan American 46-24 and win convincingly.

UNLV (2-0) opened the second half on a 9-2 run to build its first double digit lead. Freshman guard Oscar Bellfield keyed the outburst with five straight points.

The Rebels had nine players score at least five points, including nine from Darris Santee and seven each from Kendall Wallace and Mareceo Rutledge.

UNLV missed 16 of its first 20 shots and trailed 22-19 with four minutes to play in the first half. But Rougeau hit a short jumper and Wallace connected on a 3-pointer to spark an 8-0 run as the Rebels never trailed again.

Texas-Pan American (1-1) got 12 points from Emmanuel Jones and 10 from Ben Smith.
