Owlz top Idaho Falls again
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- The Orem Owlz scored four runs in the fifth inning and never trailed in completing a three-game sweep of Idaho Falls with a 10-5 victory on Sunday in Pioneer League action.
The Owlz banged out 13 hits with five players getting two apiece. Rian Kiniry was 2-for-5 with three RBI to lead the Owlz. Roberto Lopez was also 2-for-5 with an RBI, Gabriel Jacobo was 2-for-6 with an RBI, Luis Jimenez 2-for-4 with an RBI and Darwin Perez 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and four runs scored.
With the Owlz leading 4-1 heading into the fifth, Jimenez's one-out double started things for Orem. Donato Giovannatto followed with a single to score Jimenez. After an error got another Orem player aboard, Perez doubled home Giovannatto. Following a walk, Kiniry singled in two runs to complete the four-run inning.
Orem is off today, then is back home to play Great Falls on Tuesday.
• Tucson gets past Bees again: At Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake Bees gave up three runs in the top of the eighth, as Tucson rallied from a 3-2 deficit to beat the Bees 5-3 in Pacific Coast League action Sunday.
Five singles and a balk helped visiting Tucson score the three runs in the eighth.

Utah wrestlers comes out on top
Three Utah wrestlers came away with national championships in the Asics USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle National Championships held at the Utah Valley University's McKay Event Center on Saturday.
Caleb Williams of Price won a second crown in the 65-pound Novice (11-12 year-olds) as he took home the gold in the Freestyle and Greco-Roman championships. Williams defeated Brian Burchett of Washington 2-0, 1-0 in the championship match.
Joining Williams on top of the podium was Jaxon Cole and Wyatt Koelling. Cole, from Coalville, won the Midget (9-10-year-olds) 50-pound title by outlasting Ty Smith of Nevada 3-9, 7-4, 10-5. Koelling, from Logan, stopped Shane Foster of Michigan 5-3, 7-0 to claim the Midget 87-pound title.
Taylor Lamont from Springville missed winning the gold to go along with championship title won in Greco-Roman as Lamont was defeated by Austin Gomez of Illinois 0-8, 3-0, 7-0 in the Novice 65-pound class. Lamont had beat Gomez in the championship match of the Greco-Tournament on Thursday.
Also placing in the top four for Team Utah in Midget were Brandon Meikel (fourth, 50 pounds), Cameron Hunsaker (second, 55 pounds), Israel Herrera (fourth, 75 pounds), Sean Johnson (third, 75 pounds) and Ashton Seely (fourth, 80 pounds).
Besides Williams, Utah had five other placers in the Novice age division. At 60 pounds, Utah placed two wrestlers with Matthew Lee (third) and Coby Vandertoolen (fourth). Chandler Strand placed fourth at 80 pounds, Kimball Bastain fourth at 100 pounds, and Jacob Biesinger fourth at 130 pounds.
Utah did not crown any champs in the schoolboy/girl (ages 13-14) but had 10 wrestlers place in the top four: Tyler Jensen (third, 70 pounds), Dalton Harmon (third, 91 pounds), Kaden Lindley (fourth, 91 pounds), Grant Lamont (third, 98 pounds), Josh Searle (fourth, 105 pounds), Jesse Carlisle (fourth, 112 pounds), Jake Ribald (fourth, 128 pounds), Zachary Coffman (fourth, 136 pounds), Andrew DuBose (second, 175 pounds), and Joe Flores (third, 190 pounds).
"There was some great competition and the Utah wrestlers showed well," said Cole Kelley, the tournament director, who noted there were 380 wrestlers from 34 states entered in the freestyle tournament. "I also want to thank the staff of USA Wrestling, the officials and table help and all the other volunteers that made this event happen. Utah not only showed well on the mat but showed it could host a first class event."

Chivas blanks San Jose
CARSON, Calif. -- Ante Razov scored on a free kick in the 88th minute, helping Chivas USA beat San Jose 1-0 at Home Depot Center on Saturday night and move into a first-place tie in the Western Conference.
Chivas goalkeeper Brad Guzan made a pair of late saves to keep the Earthquakes off the scoreboard. Guzan turned away Kelly Gray and Kei Kamara within one minute of each other.
The goalposts denied Chivas (6-6-3) on either side of halftime. Bobby Burling rattled a shot off the crossbar in the 41st minute while Razov hit the left post in the 53rd minute.
San Jose (3-9-3), who has a league-low 10 goals this season, finished the match with four shots on goal and remained in last place in the Western Conference standings.
In another MLS match, Steven Lenhart scored the tying goal in the 87th minute to cap a comeback from two down as homestanding Columbus tied the Chicago Fire 2-2. Chris Rolfe and Calen Carr scored first-half goals for Chicago (6-5-3), which is winless in its last five games.

Hammon scores 28 to pace Silver Stars
WASHINGTON -- Becky Hammon scored a season-high 28 points and combined with Sophia Young to score San Antonio's final 24 points and the Silver Stars held off the Washington Mystics for a 83-75 win on Sunday.
After watching a 12-point second half lead turn into a one-point deficit, Hammon hit a 3-pointer with 5:54 left to give the Western Conference-leading Silver Stars (12-6) a 63-61 lead. From there she and Young, who scored 23 points, had their way against the Mystics defense.
Hammon, who had a game-high six assists, hit four 3-point field goals and went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line.
Alana Beard led the Mystics (6-11) with 20 points, including 18 in the second half. Rookie Crystal Langhorne scored a career-high 17 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 15 points for the Mystics, who have dropped three straight games.
