• Mets 7, Cardinals 2: At New York, Mike Pelfrey won his seventh consecutive decision and Carlos Delgado homered for New York.

Jose Reyes added a two-run triple and Endy Chavez had four hits for the Mets, who have won 14-of-17. On Thursday, they gained sole possession of first place in the NL East for the first time since April 19.

• Braves 8, Phillies 2: At Philadelphia, Jair Jurrjens pitched eight scoreless innings and Brian McCann hit two homers, including a grand slam, for Atlanta.

Jurrjens (10-5) allowed three hits, struck out six and walked one. The 22-year-old right-hander leads all rookies in wins, and he lowered his ERA to 3.02.

• Padres 6, Pirates 5: At Pittsburgh, Adrian Gonzalez homered to help San Diego beat Pittsburgh, which traded two of its top players shortly after the game started.

• Rockies 7, Reds 2: At Cincinnati, Brad Hawpe hit a two-run homer and Aaron Cook went eight solid innings as Colorado won for the seventh time in eight games.

Jeff Baker added a solo homer, Willy Taveras had three hits and three stolen bases and every Colorado starter had at least one hit.

• Dodgers 3, Nationals 2: At Los Angeles, Chad Billingsley took a three-hitter into the eighth inning, Nomar Garciaparra singled home the tying and go-ahead runs and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Washington Nationals.

• D'backs 10, Giants 2: At San Francisco, Dan Haren allowed two runs over eight innings as the D-backs began a 10-game road trip by roughing up the Giants.

Arizona put up five runs in the fifth inning that stuck a fork in the Giants.
