MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Amare Stoudemire had 28 points and 11 rebounds, and the Phoenix Suns beat the Memphis Grizzlies 127-113 on Tuesday night despite playing without an injured Shaquille O'Neal.

Stoudemire shot 10-of-13 from the field as the Suns won their eighth straight over the Grizzlies and moved a half-game behind the idle Houston Rockets for the fifth spot in the Western Conference playoffs.

Raja Bell scored 18 points for Phoenix, while Grant Hill had 17. Steve Nash and Leandro Barbosa finished with 16 points apiece, with Nash handing out eight assists. Gordan Giricek added 14 points and Boris Diaw scored 12.

The Suns were without center Shaquille O'Neal, who sat out with a right hip contusion. O'Neal, who was injured in Sunday's loss to Dallas, was dressed in street clothes on the Phoenix bench.

Rudy Gay matched his career high with 36 points for Memphis. Mike Conley finished with 19 points and five assists before fouling out in the closing minute, and Kyle Lowry had 13 points off the Memphis bench.

That didn't matter because Stoudemire dominated the inside against the Grizzlies. In the second half, the Suns added the outside shooting of Bell with help from Barbosa and Giricek, and Memphis never really threatened after Phoenix built the lead to double digits in the third period.

Gay made it a bit interesting with 16 points in the fourth quarter, hitting a 3-pointer with 2:34 left to pull Memphis within 114-106. But a 3-pointer by Nash put Phoenix back ahead by double digits.

Trail Blazers 112, Lakers 103: At Portland, Ore., Brandon Roy scored 23 points and matched his career high with 12 rebounds, and the Portland Trail Blazers held off the Los Angeles Lakers.

LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Portland, which snapped a five-game losing streak. Channing Frye had a season-high 22 points and 11 rebounds.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Lakers, fighting to finish atop the Pacific Division. They need three wins -- or three Phoenix losses -- to take the division for the first time since 2004.

• Nuggets 117, Clippers 99: At Los Angeles, Carmelo Anthony scored 36 points, Allen Iverson added 21 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, and the Denver Nuggets routed the Los Angeles Clippers 117-99 Tuesday night to keep pace in the Western Conference playoff race.

• Pacers 112, Hawks 98: At Indianapolis, Mike Dunleavy scored 28 points, and Indiana beat Atlanta to avoid elimination from the Eastern Conference playoff race.

A win by the Hawks would have knocked the Pacers from playoff contention, and Atlanta would have needed just one win or a New Jersey loss the rest of the way to clinch a berth. Instead, the Pacers are just two games behind the Hawks for the eighth spot with four games left. The Pacers also claimed the tiebreaker against the Hawks by winning two of the three matchups this season.

Flip Murray had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Danny Granger scored 16 points and Marquis Daniels added 15 for Indiana. The Pacers, one of the hottest teams in the East, have won three straight and nine of 12.

Joe Johnson led the Hawks with 30 points. Josh Smith had 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Josh Childress added 16 points and 12 rebounds for Atlanta.

Celtics 107, Bucks 104, OT: At Milwaukee, the Big Three were back to build a big lead, but the reserves coughed it up and forced Boston to use overtime to beat Milwaukee for its seventh straight victory.

After sitting out the Celtics' victory at Charlotte on Saturday, stars Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce lobbied coach Doc Rivers to play Tuesday night. Rivers originally wanted to get them another night of rest but relented.

Garnett scored 21 points, Allen had 11 and Pierce, who returned to the team after the birth of his daughter, had 14.

• Mavericks 99, SuperSonics 83: At Dallas, Jason Terry scored 22 points, Josh Howard added 17, and Dallas crept closer to a playoff berth while sending Seattle to its club-record 60th loss.

Brandon Bass scored 13 off the bench for the Mavericks, and Dirk Nowitzki chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds in his fourth game since returning from knee and ankle injuries.

Earl Watson had 22 points and eight assists for Seattle. Kevin Durant added 16 points, and Jeff Green and Nick Collison each had 11.

Knicks 98, Pistons 94: At Auburn Hills, Mich., Wilson Chandler scored all of his 19 points in the first half, and New York built a huge lead and beat Detroit.

Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince each scored 11 points for the Pistons, who had won five straight.

Jamal Crawford scored 16 for New York, which has won two straight after losing 10 of 11 games.

Bobcats 121, Timberwolves 119: At Charlotte, N.C., Jason Richardson scored 36 points and Charlotte avoided a collapse against one of the league's worst teams to hold off Minnesota.

The Bobcats coughed up an 18-point, first-half lead and gave the lowly Timberwolves a chance to tie the game. But Al Jefferson, who matched a career high with 40 points, missed an open 19-foot jumper at the buzzer.

Matt Carroll added 22 points while filling in for the injured Gerald Wallace and hit a free throw with 1 second left for Charlotte, which shot 62 percent and completed a season sweep of Minnesota the hard way.

Jefferson hit 18 of 25 shots and added 10 rebounds, while Ryan Gomes scored 24 points and Randy Foye had 19 for the Timberwolves, who lost their fifth straight game.

Heat 95, Bulls 88: At Miami, Kasib Powell scored a career-high 18 points in his first game back from the NBA Development League, and Miami beat Chicago to snap a seven-game losing streak.

Ricky Davis and Chris Quinn each added 16 points as five players scored in double figures for the Heat, the day after coach Pat Riley was elected to the Hall of Fame.

Luol Deng scored 19 of his 25 points in the first half for the Bulls. Ben Gordon and Joakim Noah each added 16 points.
