Provo might not be a natural destination for a football recruit from Texas but BYU still gets its share of players from the Lone Star state.
The Cougars added another Texas wide receiver in Akile Davis from DeSoto, Texas, who Tweeted Monday afternoon from his @8_GoldenHands account that he had committed to BYU:
Recruiting website Scout.com lists Davis at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds and as a three-star recruit for the class of 2015 (Rivals.com lists him as a two-star recruit). The recruiting sites say he also had offers from Maryland, Indiana and San Diego State among others.
Davis responded to numerous congratulatory tweets from friends and Cougar supporters on the announcement. He also apparently got a lot of calls:

I think this is another nice recruit for BYU, who continues to look for guys who can bring speed and athleticism to the wideout position.
Cougar wide receiver coach Guy Holliday continues to show his value as a recruiter. The wide receivers he has helped bring to BYU have to be getting Cougar fans pretty excited.
