With every pick, particularly later in the first round, I was on the edge of my seat.
Was this the one where BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy or former Timpview star Xavier Su'a-Filo would hear their name called?
The answer, each and every time through a long, boring Thursday night, was no.
Both of the two local football players who had a shot at being selected in the first round were passed over on Day 1, which means they now get to wait another few hours to see where their football careers will take them.
I doubt the wait will be very long for either of them early in the second round on Friday, but you never know.
I think both Van Noy and Su'a-Filo are talented enough to be Day 1 guys but the chips just didn't fall into place.
Much more important, in my opinion, is getting to a place where the team gives them an opportunity and puts them in position to succeed.
I'll be watching closely Friday, waiting for these guys who I respect both as athletes and as individuals, find out their draft fate.
