BYU was never really a threat to be held out of the NCAA Tournament, after all.
The Cougars drew a No. 10 seed and will face No. 7 Oregon in Milwaukee in their first game (second round) Thursday.
Oregon has won 8-of-9. The teams met in late December with Oregon requiring overtime to withstand the visitors in Eugene, 100-96. Oregon was ranked. No. 13 at the time. It slumped but rallied to also earn at at-large bid out of the Pac-12 Conference.
BYU won't be the same team, though.
It lost versatile point guard Kyle Collinsworth to a knee injury last Tuesday in the West Coast Conference championship game's second half.
BYU lost that game, trailing by 20 points when the sophomore went down with 13 minutes left.
In December's overtime loss at Oregon, Collinsworth had 15 points five rebounds, eight assists, two blocked shots, and a steal in 41 minutes.
But 23-11 BYU survived, and now gets a rematch.
BYU will be making its 28th tournament appearance after missing out last year.
If the Cougars win, they'll play either No. 2 seed Wisconsin close to its campus in Madison, or if somehow the Badgers lose it'll be No. 15 American.
