College football fans: Here's my Sept. 28 ballot, turned in apparently way too early. A confession: I have Penn State way too low, and people from Nittany Lion community are sending some frustrated, but still very polite, e-mails saying how I've gotten it wrong. I agree to a point. I have them 17th -- I was traveling yesterday, and had to be up at 7 a.m. to catch a flight. Whoops ... somehow Penn State slipped through the cracks on my normally trusty system. Figure I'd put PSU ninth and have everyone below bumped a spot. I'll try my best to not get it wrong like that again. That being said, there sure was a lot of shake-up in the polls over the weekend. Kind of hard to get so upset about any rankings when everything is in such flux.

1. Alabama: Jumped seven spots in my ballot after dominating win at then-No. 3 Georgia
2. Oklahoma
3. Missouri
4. LSU
5. Texas
6. BYU: Interesting 3-spot jump coming off a bye. Top-10 chaos had me confused about how to treat Cougs.
7. Texas Tech
8. Georgia: Still good, but looked so flat in first half vs. Bama.
9. USC: Dropped 8 spots after loss at Oregon State. Horrible first half.
10. Ohio State
11. Utah: Still have to play Oregon State. That game looks appealing/difficult now.
12. South Florida
13. Auburn: Zero offense, terrific D.
14. Kansas
15. Wisconsin
16. Florida: Yikes ... Ole Miss?
17. Penn State: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I love you, Joe Paterno!
18. Boise State
19. Fresno State
20. Oregon
21. Wake Forest
22. TCU: Decided to not budge after expected loss at Oklahoma.
23. Vanderbilt
24. Virginia Tech: Nice win at Nebraska
25. Oklahoma State: I'm a man, I'll give them a vote ... They're 25!
