The UVSC men's basketball team plays at Weber State today at 5:45 p.m.
The game can be heard live on 1400 KSTAR.
This is the second meeting of the year between the two schools. Earlier in December the Wolverines beat Weber State 68-49 in Orem. Overall, this is the fourth meeting between the two in-state schools. Last year the two teams played twice. UVSC beat Weber State 71-58 in Orem and Weber pulled out a 59-51 win in Ogden.
Weber State comes into today's game with a 5-6 record. The Wildcats beat SUU 85-72 and IPFW 74-67 before the Christmas holiday. Coric Riggs leads Weber State in scoring at 15.2 points a game and in rebounding at 7.5 boards a game. David Patten is also scoring double figures for the Wildcats at 12.5 points a game.
"Weber State is on a two game win streak," said UVSC coach Dick Hunsaker. "They are playing well and with a lot of confidence."
UVSC is 6-6 and coming off a 79-54 win over Montana Tech last Thursday. Ben Devoe leads the Wolverines in scoring and rebounding. He averages 12.5 points and six rebounds. Matt Peterson is second in scoring at 12.3 while Sylvester Allison is averaging 10.1 points a game. Allison had 15 points in the last meeting against Weber State
UVSC returns to action on Friday when they host High Point at 7 p.m. in the McKay Center. This will be the second meeting between the two schools.
BYU women: The Cougars are at Weber State tonight at 8.
The Cougars (8-1) are coming off their first loss of the season, a 67-65 loss to North Carolina State (8-3) at the Marriott Center. Weber State is 5-4.
The Cougars return home Friday to host Portland State (3-7) at 2 p.m.
UVSC women: The Wolverines (2-8) host Portland tonight at 7 p.m. in the McKay Center. UVSC's last game was Dec. 20, when the Wolverines fell 80-74 to Southern Utah in Cedar City.
UVSC hosts Gonazaga on Friday a 4:30 p.m. as part of a men's-women's doubleheader.
Both games are return contests from 2004-05 when UVSC lost at Portland 74-58 on Dec. 30 and at Gonzaga 87-41 in the Bulldogs' home opener on Nov. 20.
UVSC is in the midst of a six-game losing streak after beginning the season 2-2.
