North Sanpete pulled out an exciting 25-16, 27-29, 25-22, 17-25, 15-3 victory over Morgan in the championship match of the Class 3A volleyball tournament to win the 3A title Saturday night at Utah Valley University in Orem,
The Hawks had an all-around team effort, with Shyanne Ison, Bailee Kendll, Linsday Bradley, Kara Anderson, and Shelby Earl leading the way.
Delta fell to North Sanpete in the championship semifinals, 25-20, 25-20, 25-21, then played tough against Richfield in the third-fourth match before losing 18-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-16 to finish fourth in the tournament.
Wasatch defeated Desert Hills 3-2 (25-13, 23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-13) to advance to the fifth-seventh match, where the Wasps ran out of gas in another five-game marathon, falling to Hurricane 19-25, 17-25, 25-8, 25-13, 15-5.
ALA was ousted from the tournament Saturday morning in a 21-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22 loss to Bear River.
In the Class 1A tournament, also at UVU, Panguitch swept Piute 25-23, 25-18, 25-22 in the championship match.
• Wasatch 25, Desert Hills 7: At Heber City, Payton Davis ran for one touchdown and threw for two more at Wasatch beat Desert Hills 25-7 on Saturday in the first round of the Class 3A football playoffs.
Alex Probst caught both of Davis' TD passes, one from 17 yards out and the other a 24-yard scoring toss.
The Wasps advance to play Bear River.
