Beat the Zuke contestant Norley Hall walked up and down the halls at Timpanogos High School yesterday sporting his New York Yankees hat and shirt, grinning from ear to ear.
But there was something raining on his World Series parade. Despite his short-lived joy, there was something bothering him.
"Zuke, I saw you were 9-0 last week what did you get for a prize?"
Norley Hall-of-Famer brings up a good point.
What am I getting out of this contest? Sure, I hand out prizes to those who beat me, but what about me?
Come on, who else feels like Hall? Who else thinks the Zuke needs a little something?
Since I am psychic, I think I know what you some of you would like to give me so in anticipation of that I have listed a small sampling.
Springville assistant coach Doug Bills: An autographed picture of the MVP.
Provo High School: A punch in the face.
Timpview High School: A ring.
Springville High School: A ticket to jump on the bandwagon.
Spanish Fork wide receiver Chase Loftin: The game ball.
Orem: An apology.
Kyle Bilbao: An autographed Aaron Rogers jersey.
Rhen Anderson: A Brett Favre voodoo doll.
American Fork golf coach Lynn "Aces" Anderson: Hole-in-one lessons.
The White Tornado: To hit for the cycle with the EXO.
Curly Lambeau: Two season tickets for life.
Mountain View running back James Emerson: To team up with you and Kozy Antoine in the turkey bowl.
Tanner Rehrer, Andrew "Mighty" Eidie, Darren "Fall from" DeGracie: Lunch.
I am sure many of you would like to give me some other things that I cannot mention, but that is just something to look forward to on another day.
Before I get to this week's winners, perhaps I should mention how I did last week in the first week of the playoffs.
Better yet, I think I will just show you the text that former Spanish Fork High School star Gage Loftin sent me.
"Zuke, you are amazing. I can't believe you called it. Chase (Loftin) tore it up."
Last week I said Pine View's defense would focus on Travis Still opening up a big day from Chase Loftin, and Travis responded with 10 catches for 228 yards and three touchdowns.
What's the big deal? Just another normal day at the office. Ho hum. I also said it would be Lone Peak's defense that would be the difference against West Jordan. How does six interceptions sound?
I don't know why everyone is all excited about that. It's just what I do.
Another 9-0 week, so what that it came in the playoffs in the biggest games of the year.
Now allow me to continue my perfection through the playoffs and give you this week's winners.
Pleasant Grove at Davis
With quarterback Dallas Lloyd out with a broken leg and Bryan Sampson out with an ankle/thigh, is this the end of the line for the mighty Vikings?
Has Pleasant Grove faded like two-time Beat the Zuke winner Ryan "Stumble and then Fall" Hall?
Or are the Vikings still going through will plans of honoring former coach Bill Mikelson at the 5A ring ceremony?
Bill Mikelson Field. I like it.
I have been agonizing over this game all week. The psychic vibes just aren't coming. Now I know how "Run of the Mill" Phil Morgan feels every week.
I know that Donny Lewis and Jeff Harris can keep the Vikings in the game, but I see Davis' running game putting too much pressure on P.G.'s defense. Tanner Hinds proves to be the difference.

Spanish Fork at Timpview
Finally, an offense that can test Chris Badger and the Timpview defense. Badger is the team leader in picks and tackles. He's going to have to be at the top of his game and get some help from Capena Clark along with Ofa Latu to cool off these Dons. Hayden Nielsen has thrown a touchdown to everyone in the school.
Upsets are not really part of Timpview's vocabulary. The T'Birds have made the quarterfinals for 10 seasons in a row and 23 of its 33 years and Timpview holds a commanding 26-4 lead and has won nineteen straight over the Dons. I'm no math major, but I don't like to argue with the numbers, and I don't ever argue with Chad Van Orden's offense.

Woods Cross at Springville
I realized that Woods Cross is in the middle of a magical season. This is the Wildcats' first winning season since 1993, and I correctly picked them to knock off Provo last week, but my Red Devils (bet Doug Bills never thought he'd hear me day that) have averaged 35 or more points in last five games.
This offense could outscore the AFC in the Pro Bowl.
This week's hot combo of Steve Bate to Todd Gillies can't be stopped.

Hunter at Lone Peak
What can this defense possibly do for an encore of last week's six interception performance against West Jordan.
Let's think.
How about a shutout?
Against Hunter? The Wolverines are averaging 25 points a game.
How about holding Hunter running back La'au Tanuvasa to under 100 yards. Now we're talking.
Jacob Hanneman gives the Knights what they need on both sides of the ball.
