Here’s a look at Tuesday’s prep girls basketball action:
Timpview 71, Cottonwood 26
The Thunderbirds dominated Cottonwood Tuesday night, only giving the Colts one opportunity to score double digits in a quarter.
The Thunderbirds came out strong early in the first with 22 points to the Colts’ meager four. Timpview widened the gap before the half, scoring 14 points in the second while Cottonwood score five.
The Thunderbirds never stopped their domination, knocking down 21 points in the third while the Colts only hit seven.
By the fourth quarter, the Thunderbirds had already done their victory lap, hitting an easy 14 points while the Colts finally broke into double digits, knocking down 10 points.
Ella Pope led the Thunderbirds with 20 points on the night, shooting 6 for 6 from beyond the arc. Junior Jasmine Espinoza scored 14 points as well, and Shalyn Fano hit 10.

Westlake 64, Judge Memorial 50
Thunder rumbled Tuesday night in Salt Lake City as Westlake High School pulled out the victory over Judge Memorial High for a strong 64-50 win.
The Thunder started the game strong, putting up 21 points over the Bulldogs 11. But the Bulldogs started to inch closer and closer to the Thunder, scoring 16 points while the Thunder hit 17 before the half.
The Thunder softened in the third quarter, hitting only five points to the Bulldogs’ 12. But the Thunder rolled through the fourth quarter, knocking down 21 more points, edging out the strong 14-point victory over the Bulldogs.
