The Lone Peak volleyball team closed out the regular season by sweeping American Fork in three games at home on a snowy Tuesday night in Highland.

The match lasted a long time, as the visitors put up a fight, but the Knights ultimately prevailed 25-17, 25-22, 25-18.

Lone Peak took the lead right from the start in Game 1, with a kill by Ashlan Rogers and never trailed.

The Cavemen got as close as five points in the late going after a pair of aces by Makenzie Moea'i, but the Knights pulled away after that.

The second game was tight all the way through. Lone Peak got up by as much as four early, but American Fork closed the gap with a kill by Hayley Su'a-Filo and an ace from Jennifer Hardman.

A kill by Jennifer Orton later tied the teams at 17, and they traded points for a few more turns. A Rogers ace and a Cami Richan kill helped close out the game for the Knights.

Game 3 was also a battle at the start. The Cavemen led for a stretch before Lone Peak caught up and the squads went back and forth for a short time.

Knight Kix Adolpho came to the line with the score tied at nine apiece and proceeded to serve for six straight points, including a pair of aces from her and kills by Rogers, Coralie Jarema and Richan, plus a block by those last two.

Despite some good plays by American Fork the rest of the way, the Cavemen were never able to overcome the deficit.

Jessica Jardine tallied 10 kills, six digs and two aces, while Moea'i added seven kills, nine digs and three aces. Hardman had 12 assists for American Fork.

Rogers swung for 10 kills, while Richan contributed eight and Chloe Jarema six. Whitney Johnson made five kills with a good hitting efficiency mark. Libero Whitney Ashton had six digs and passed well from the back row.

"This was a good senior night," said Lone Peak coach Deanna Meyer. "We're coming into our own at the right time.

"We're doing a lot of good things right now and every day, we're getting better. I'm excited for our opportunity in the playoffs."

Next up for the Knights is the state volleyball tournament at UVU's McKay Events Center on Nov. 6 and 7. The Cavemen will conclude their season at Pleasant Grove on Thursday.
