Timpanogos senior Trevor Henderson posted his first hat trick of the season Friday afternoon to help push the Timberwolves past Lone Peak 4-2 in Region 4 boys soccer action.
"Trevor was the man of the match," said Timpanogos coach Aaron Barth. "He had some opportunities and he took advantage of them."
Those chances didn't come right away, however. It was the Knights who got on the board first, and rather quickly.
In the second minute, Lone Peak junior midfielder Ryan Wilson sent a high free kick into the box from just across the midfield line. The T'Wolf goalkeeper mishandled the ball, and David Tuttle was right there to send it into the net.
It took the Timpanogos players half the period to even things up, but they finally did when senior defender Parker Brown fed the ball to Henderson for his first tally of the contest.
Lone Peak responded in the very next minute as junior midfielder Ben Wyman took a corner kick that was headed in by sophomore defender Dallin Christensen from the far post.
Six minutes later, the Timberwolves were awarded a penalty kick after one of their players was knocked down in the box, and Henderson drove that past the goalie for the 2-2 tie.
The Knights found the net one more time before the break, but the goal was disallowed on an offside call.
Timpanogos made some adjustments and dominated possession and goal pressure for most of the second period.
In minute 54, Josh Jenson got loose for a run down the left side and served the ball to Caleb Porter for the finish to give the T'Wolves the lead for good.
With 10 minutes left on the clock, Henderson created a breakaway. Two Lone Peak defenders closed quickly near the top of the box, but he sidestepped one and juked the other to get a clear shot past the keeper to complete the scoring for the day.
Knight defender Joe Parry had an outstanding outing in the losing effort.
"If we play like we did in the second half in our remaining four region games, we'll be a tough team to beat," Barth said.
Timpanogos (10-2, 5-1) travels to Spanish Fork on Tuesday, while the Knights (3-7-1, 2-3-1) host the Vikings that same day. Kickoff for both games is set for 4 p.m.
