New students were welcomed by meeting other peers as they participated in activities, such as: water balloon fights, kickball, slip-n-slide, and a dunk tank. In its sixth-year, the annual tradition of being hit with water balloons, speeding down slip-n-slides and dunking teachers, Sophomore Splash continues to connect peers from other schools before the start of school at Lone Peak High School. "It's basically a water party," Austin Call, sophomore class vice president, said. "It's a way to create unity among two schools." The two schools Call speaks of are Timberline and Mountain Ridge, two local junior high schools, in which students from both unite to become freshmen at Lone Peak High School. "All the schools are joining for a wacky, water fun," sophomore Madeline skillings, said. While it took the sophomore student council more than two hours to fill five trash cans full of water balloons, among other chores, to ready for the event, the overall consensus was that it was worth the effort. "We've been planning this since June, and have been here three times a week over the summer to prepare," Jessica Iving, sophomore class president, said. "I just want to meet tons of new people."
