New Album Released

By Daily Herald - | Nov 19, 2008

A forerunner in the LDS inspirational music industry, Hilary Weeks was one of the first women to make a significant and lasting impact on the genre. And with six bestselling CDs in her discography, Weeks is now releasing, “If I Only Had Today,” her first album of original songs in four years.

For more than a decade Weeks has delivered music with a rare combination of assuredness and tenderness.

“If I Only Had Today” is, at its core, no different, with 11 new inspiring songs. But weeks says it’s also different in many ways.

“With the other CDs I’ve written and recorded, I’ve felt an enormous amount of stress and pressure to get the songs right,” Weeks says. “But as I approached this seventh CD, I decided I would just trust God. I let go my fear and I feel like this writing is my best so far. The music feels fresh and approachable and the songs are about real life and how faith intersects with that.”

Weeks’ career began when her song “He Hears Me” was recorded on an “Especially for Youth” album for the LDS Church Education System.

Three years later, in 1996, Weeks released her solo debut, “He Hears Me,” for which she received a Pearl Award for Inspirational Album of the Year from the Faith Centered Music Association.
