Toll Brothers announced May 20, 2019 that Steve Johns has joined the company and will be the senior project manager for Canyon Point at Traverse Mountain, the company's single-family home community development in Lehi.

Six students receive Burger King scholarships

Monday, the Burger King McLamore Foundation, the company’s philanthropic organization, announced it has awarded $4,000,000 in scholarships through the Burger King Scholars program to almost 3,000 high school seniors.

Six seniors from Utah County high schools were recipients: Jesse Escobar, Timpanogos High School; Sophia Glenn, Mountain View High School; Kimberly Windward, Orem High School; Rebecca Cromar, Salem Hills High School; Emma Argyle, Spanish Fork High School; and Alexis Rogers, Maple Mountain High School. A local Burger King employee also received a scholarship.

“We see scholarships as our way of investing in the future of our community and helping students reach their full potential.” Gary Moore, VP of Operations, HB Boys, LC, a local Burger King owner, said.

The Burger King McLamore Foundation has awarded nearly $39 million in scholarships to around 36,000 students in the past decade. Scholars are selected based on GPA, community service and leadership experience, according to a press release. The foundation is named in honor of Burger King co-founder James W. McLamore.

“We believe that without education, you limit your potential to be your way. The Burger King Scholars program is our way of helping advance education and alleviating the burden of student debt,” Amanda Israel, executive director, Burger King McLamore Foundation, said. “These students represent top talent across the nation who are working towards creating a brighter future for everyone.”

Toll Brothers announces Lehi development team members

Monday, Toll Brothers announced additions to the team working on the Canyon Point at Traverse Mountain development in Lehi. The single-family home community will house 204 families by the time construction is finished, according to a press release. Lots are already available for sale, beginning in the $400,000 range.

Steve Johns has been announced as senior project manager for the development. He joined the Toll Brothers company just this year after working as a local construction executive and will be responsible for performance and progress of Canyon Point sales, marketing and construction.

“It’s exciting to bring Toll Brothers luxury home buying experience to Utah buyers,” Johns said. “We opened Canyon Point for sale in late March and so far, people have been impressed with the ‘comfortable living’ floor plans, upgraded standard features and unobstructed views that surround our home sites in the community.”

Jocelyn Egan, a six-year Toll Brothers employee, relocated from Tucson to Utah to be part of the company’s entry into the Utah market. She will be an onsite sales manager for Canyon Point. Jillian Blakely, new to Toll Brothers but a real estate professional for several years, will also be an onsite sales manager for the community.

Other inclusions to the team are Utah native Alexa Swain as an online sales consultant, and Jason Stark and Kadin Notes as construction managers.

Orem company receives two national awards

Orem company Avetta, which provides supply chain risk management, received two national awards last week, the Environmental Leader 2019 Award from Business Sector Media and Gold Stevie Award in the Supply Chain Management Solution category in The 17th Annual American Business Awards.
