This is a favorite annual tradition which honors and pays respect to our country. The Utah Army National Guard along with the American Legion and assistance from local Scout Troops will properly retire hundreds of flags collected from throughout the community. Highlights of the program will feature music from the National Guard’s 23rd Army Band, special guest speaker Chaplain (MAJ) Timothy C. Clayson, local community leaders and a 21-gun salute.

Congress has authorized flags worn beyond repair to be destroyed, preferably by fire in a dignified manner, showing respect and reverence. Any personal flags in your possession (in need of retirement) may be dropped off at the Parks & Recreation Office (775 North Main) or the Spanish Fork City Office, Room 130 (40 South Main).  Scout troops, please gather your old flags to be retired, and bring them two hours prior to the ceremony.  Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts must be in full uniform to participate and must arrive by 7:00 PM.

Concession items will be offered for sale, with proceeds benefitting the families of our local military personnel. There will also be donation containers available if you would like to donate to help families of veterans.
