Local singer and songwriter Mindy Gledhill has been enchanting fans across the globe for more than a decade since her first album release. Known for her upbeat indie music styling, her popularity has only grown in recent years as her songs gained traction with a more mainstream audience base.

That popularity hasn’t separated her from her roots, though, which is why Gledhill teamed with local musician Adam Klopp to re-record and release her original Christmas tune “Winter Moon.” With Klopp on the banjo and Gledhill on the keytar, the pair create a simple yet fun holiday love song perfect for the season.

The song, one of 11 produced by the city of Provo as part of a unique Christmas album project, was released with a music video Tuesday on provomayor.com and YouTube.

As mentioned in a previous article, the city’s mayor, John Curtis, announced last week a collaboration between local musicians and the city with one goal in mind: producing a Christmas album of new and classic songs entirely composed or performed by local artists. The album, “Provo City Christmas Concerts,” according to Curtis, would be “our gift to the world.”

As if just the creation of Provo’s Christmas album isn’t enough reason to celebrate this holiday season, Curtis also announced that each of the 11 songs being featured on the album will be included in a series of music videos being released each day on provomayor.com. This video by Mindy Gledhill with Adam Klopp was filmed at downtown Provo’s Foxglove Flowers & Gifts, and marks Day 7 in the series of local videos created at local venues.

Outside of just bringing a local sound and great music to the world, an additional hope for the project is to ultimately raise $30,000 for the United Way and the Sub for Santa to help less fortunate families across the area.

For those wanting to support a wonderful cause while reaping the benefits of wonderful local music, the entire album is currently available for digital download with the CD available for pre-order by visiting provo.org/subforsanta. The physical CD also will be available for purchase at local businesses starting after Dec. 8.
