A dream 14 years in the making is coming true for Savannah Ostler, a filmmaker from Alpine.
Ostler’s movie “Twice the Dream,” a project she came up with as a Timberline Middle School student and worked on at East Hollywood High School in West Valley City, is set to premiere Friday in theaters.
“If I could fulfill a dream, anybody can, and it just takes persistence and drive and determination,” Ostler said. “Even if it takes over a decade, it’s all worth it.”
“Twice the Dream” is a story about two inseparable sisters pursuing their musical dreams together who have to rely on each other when a sudden family tragedy strikes.
Ostler wrote, directed, produced and acted in the movie, which also stars Monica Moore Smith and Mason D. Davis of 2016 film “Saturday’s Warrior.” “Twice the Dream” was shot entirely in Utah, including locations in Pleasant Grove, Alpine and concert scenes at Velour Live Music Gallery in Provo.
“Everybody is born with some sort of dream, whether that be to paint, to sing, to have a family, to own a business, to write a book or anything,” Ostler said. “I just want to spark that hope in people again, and that’s what I hope people will get from the movie, they’ll leave feeling inspired and uplifted and ready to start pursuing their dreams again.”
The film opens Friday at most Megaplex Theatres in Utah, as well as a couple of theaters in Idaho. Locations in Utah County include Megaplex Theatres at Geneva, 600 N. Mill Road, Vineyard, and Megaplex Theatres at Thanksgiving Point, 2935 N. Thanksgiving Way, Lehi. Tickets are available for $7.21-$14.68 online at megaplextheatres.com.
The movie is also set to go on sale digitally and on DVD around Christmastime and head to subscription services like Netflix next year.
