Utah has never been known for its love of coffee. Probably because most Utahns don’t drink coffee.
Tuesday Starbucks announced its first standalone store is coming to Provo, but it's not the first coffee shop in the area.
Though it may seem like Utah County is dry of coffee, there are still plenty of places to get your fix without setting foot in a major chain café.
Here are 12 coffee shops across the county to get your brew on.
Rugged Grounds is a coffee house run by partners Skyler Saenz and Sadie Crowly, who renovated an old tax office into a quaint but enchanting location. The walls are lined with paneled woods while the sawhorse table displays a chess set for patrons to slow down and enjoy with their coffee.

With unique drink names like the Holy Irish and the Obama, there’s a lot to love about this Saratoga Springs coffee shop. And if coffee isn’t your thing, grab a Mormon Mocha, which has all the coffee flavoring without the actual coffee.

Art City Coffee
The city that prides itself on art should unsurprisingly pride itself on its fresh coffee as well. The little coffee shop in Springville offers quite the charm for being in a strip mall, not to mention a variety of sweets to go with your cup of joe.

Juice N’ Java
Juice N' Java in Provo just reopened to rejoin its sister store in Orem. Most everything at is locally grown. Grab a green smoothie every once in a while to mix up your morning routine of black.

Beany’s to Go
Starbucks has nothing on Beany’s quality of coffee and service, so say many Yelpers. And the drive-thru makes it all the easier to fit a coffee right into your morning schedule.

Provo’s options of coffee are slim, with the closest Starbucks all the way in Orem. Perhaps that’s why the Coffee Pod has done so well. This institution of Provo has a well-earned strong following with Mexi Mochas, Macchiatos and enough baked goods to add a few inches to your waistline.

Do you consider yourself a coffee-aholic? Java Junkie is likely the place for you. Java Junkie has a whopping 32 ounce sizing option for you true coffee lovers. The baristas are also helpful and always quick with a recommendation.

Hobble Creek Coffee
Not only does Hobble Creek Coffee in Springville roast their own beans, they also act as a distributor to other shops in the area.

Peace on Earth Coffee
Who doesn't want peace on earth? That must be the idea behind Peace on Earth Coffee, which recently opened in the first floor of the Liberty Center Apartments. If the trendy vibes aren't enticing enough, the excellent drip coffees will.

Elevated Grounds Coffee and Espresso
In case you need a reminder that we live at higher elevation, check out Elevated Grounds Coffee and Espresso next time you're in Lindon. The coffee shop not only has excellent gluten free bagels and paninis, they have a wide selection of lattes and espressos.
