After a week of celebrating our nation’s independence, there’s nothing much more patriotic to follow that up with than fried chicken. Saturday is National Fried Chicken Day. It is the quintessential American food, besides fried everything else.

With a name like Chubby’s you know you’re not going there for the salad, which incidentally, it does offer. You go to Chubby’s for its full-flavored burgers and juicy fried chicken sandwiches. The menu offers about a half-dozen fried chicken sandwiches, including the guacamole chicken, the chicken and Swiss, and the chicken bacon ranch.

Maybe you want a side of sticky chicken fingers with your meal, and that’s absolutely fine. Wingers has you covered. Sticky Finger entrees and salads are also great options. Past the piles of juicy chicken wings, Wingers also has a variety of fried chicken dishes, including its own take on Chicken and Waffles.

One of the gems of Payson is Dalton’s Steakhouse. Dalton’s offers a rustic feel with hearty plates, including steaks, soups and salads. If you can, try the chicken-fried chicken covered in heart-warming (and slowing) country gravy.

If you want a little more hometown feel with your plate of chicken, look no further than Station 22. The Provo staple offers many chicken dishes, but their most famous is their Chicken and Waffles. The soul-food classic gets a Station 22 twist and if you only stop there once, you have to try it.

Zaxby’s has made quite the foray into Utah County’s fried chicken market. Should you chance to be by one of these eateries, try a Wings & Things plate, complete with wings, chicken strips, fries, toast and a side of celery.

Waffle Love might not be your first guess for fried chicken, but this delicious restaurant and food truck serves up some tasty chicken. Perhaps the most tasty is its Chicken and Waffles featuring buttermilk fried chicken on a sweet liege waffle, but it also serves a Chicken Sandwich on a croissant waffle and kids' chicken tender.

Bok Bok Chicken
As our food reviewer describes, Bok Bok chicken is a satisfying blink-and-you-miss-it hole in the wall place. The restaurant features a short and simple menu of Korean-style fried chicken with different sauce options, including house sauce, spicy house sauce and candy garlic sauce.

PDQ opened its first Utah location near Traverse Mountain about two years ago. The menu is all chicken, and it's full of pizzazz. You can choose to get your fried chicken in the form of tenders or nuggets, and they come with homemade sauces.

Art City Trolley
Art City Trolley is a casual restaurant in Springville with a fun atmosphere. It's no surprise that their American-style menu includes fried chicken. You can get its Fried Chicken Tenders as an entree (tossed with diner's choice of sauce) or in a salad.

Lovebirds Hot Chicken
Started by the people behind Waffle Love, Lovebirds is a take on Nashville hot chicken. With its grand opening just a few months ago, the restaurant has a very simple menu. Dishes include fried chicken sandwiches on toasted, house made brioche buns, with different topping options, along with sides of slaws and fries.
