Escape rooms are a great way to get out and have fun in an interactive way. Perfect for everything from a group of friends to date night to family night to team building, escape rooms challenge players to engage in narrative, be observational and puzzle their way through clues.
As a more recent trend of the last few years, escape rooms businesses seem to be popping up all over the place — which one should you choose? Utah County is home to several unique escape rooms. Whether your deciding factor is theme, price, difficulty or something else, check out our rundown of our areas' options to find the best fit for you.
Escapes in Time in Orem
As the business’ name denotes, not only does every room have a clock counting down the time in which players must escape, but each room is uniquely themed as different time periods, as if the players have traveled back in time.
Currently, Escapes in Time’s rooms are: OK Corral Jailbreak, which takes players back to the Old Wild West, Tombstone, Arizona, 1881, in the middle of a shootout; Crazy Hoarders Attack, based in a condemned, dilapidated home in 1978 in Orem; Pandora’s Paranormal Parlor, which takes players back to an enchanted, demon-filled parlor in 1897 in Blackpool, England; Santa’s Been Kidnapped, a modern North Pole workshop belonging to a jolly, festive fellow; Leonardo’s Loot, based in the famous DaVinci’s renaissance workshop in Florence, Italy, in 1501; and Baker Street Mystery, which takes players into the world of detective Sherlock Holmes and his London flat in 1903.

Escape Prose in Provo
Escape Prose is unique in multiple ways: First, it's located inside the Provo Towne Center mall. Also, instead of providing a choice of multiple smaller escape rooms, as most other places do, Escape Prose is one big, carnival-themed escape journey that takes players through several spacious rooms. That, combined with the fact that there is no time limit, makes the Escape Prose experience one-of-a-kind.
“We wanted it to be fully immersive, so we came up with this concept of going into a story, and from the outside, as soon as you walk into the lobby, you are immersed in the story," said Cliff Carron-Campbell, co-owner of Escape Prose.

Vizzini's House of Escapes in American Fork
Vizzini's tagline is: "You've escaped a room ... can you escape a house?" The house boasts 90-minute games, instead of the 60-minute norm, and all games are private, as opposed to other establishments that schedule strangers together in some instances unless the customers purchase private rooms for a higher cost.
The two game options at Vizzini's are Mr. Boddy's Game Room and Pirate Hunter: The Key to Queen Anne's Treasure. The first sets players into the shoes of a news reporter trapped inside a maze of "diabolical clues and puzzles." The second centers on the abode of a modern day pirate hunter and race to locate a legendary key.
