Sound Hot Ticket: Stephen Cope to play farewell show at Muse Music on Saturday

Stephen Cope, shown here at Studio Studio Dada in Provo, plays a farewell show at Muse Music on Saturday.

Provo is losing one of its best producers and songwriters later this month. It's a bummer, sure, but a few farewell shows will hopefully ease the sting. (Or intensify it; time will tell.)

Stephen Cope, known by the stage name Officer Jenny, is relocating to Georgia in the coming weeks. Cope's studio, Studio Studio Dada, has become one of Provo's best spots for recording and concerts. There's an intimate, creative, exploratory energy in that space -- as well as a smorgasbord of unique instruments and gear. Being there just brings out the creative side in you.

Muse Music in downtown Provo hosts Cope for a farewell show on Saturday. (Velour Live Music Gallery also will host a farewell show on Oct. 20.) Saturday's show also will feature Stuart Wheeler (of Quiet House), John-Ross Boyce, Apt (of House of Lewis) and Pet Library.

As a performer and songwriter, Cope is captivating -- boasting a voice that feels remarkably strong, even as it chillingly quivers and shakes. And man, those songs: ethereal, often otherworldly. It's enough to make the hairs on your arm stand upright.

Tickets to Saturday's show are $7 at Muse Music, $9.50 at Muse is located at 247 W. Center St. in Provo. Doors open at 8 p.m. For more info, visit
