Originating as Children of Light in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, the One Voice Children’s Choir is once again shining their light. This time toward the fight to end crimes against children.
One Voice Children's Choir will join an all-star cast at the upcoming Utah’s Stars & Friends concert to be held Saturday, March 14, at the UCCU Center in Orem. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Operation Underground Railroad through its partnership with the Elizabeth Smart Foundation.
Operation Underground Railroad, founded by Tim Ballard, a former CIA agent and former U.S. Homeland Security investigator, rescues child sex-trafficking victims across the world by going undercover as someone soliciting the children’s services. With strategic planning with local authorities who swoop in and arrest the criminals when the money
exchanges hands, Operation Underground Railroad (OURrescue.org) has rescued more than 230 victims over the past 12 months alone.
Celebrating the noble efforts of organizations like Operation Underground Railroad and the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, Utah’s Stars & Friend unites professional musicians, performers and industry veterans in one generous cause.
Featured performer Alfie Boe, Broadway star of "Les Miserables" and recent soloist with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir heads up an all-star cast of Utah’s most renowned entertainers such as The Str!ke, Ben Hale, Gentri and Lexi Walker.
Many of the artists, as well as the producers of the show, are performing at their own expense or donating their time to maximize the charitable contribution.
The One Voice Children’s Choice is a perfect fit for the concert as they provide children in Utah the opportunity to cultivate an appreciation for music and share their talents while delivering a positive message.
The choir meets year-round and performs more than 50 times each year. It has received numerous awards in the recording industry including the prestigious John Lennon International Music Award. They’ve performed for numerous dignitaries and were featured on a music video with Alex Boyé covering "Let It Go" from Disney's "Frozen" which quickly became a YouTube sensation with more than 52 million views. The choir was then asked to audition for television’s "America’s Got Talent" and was selected as one of the Top 48 acts in the country.
