Enjoy Art City Days
With school out, the season of city celebrations is well under way with this weekend focusing on Art City Days in Springville.
Spotlight weekend events at the celebration include the Fireman’s Breakfast, Balloon Fest, carnival, children’s parade, Grand Parade, car show, Duct Tape Regatta and fireworks. For a full list of events, visit http://heraldextra.com/citycelebrations/art-city-days.
Head to the Cedar Hills Family Festival
Another area celebration happening this week is the Cedar Hills Family Festival, which will run through Saturday at locations across the city. Highlights of the weekend include a pickleball tournament, Outdoor Adventure Zone, Night Out Against Crime, a family dinner, outdoor movie, parade, children’s activities and fireworks, with full event details, including times and locations, at http://cedarhills.org/news-events/family-festival.
Go to the Big Summer Bash
This weekend, Provo Towne Centre Mall, 1200 Towne Centre Blvd. in Provo, is hosting the party of the summer (even though it’s still technically spring) with their Big Summer Bash.
Admission to the Bash is free, and includes firework shows, concerts, a car show, games, food and fun, with additional charges for access to a carnival and the Color Run 5K, a fun run featuring plenty of colored powder and an after party with music, dancing and more.
See ‘Newsies’ under the stars
The SCERA Center for the Arts kicked off its outdoor season with a concert on Memorial Day and will continue the fun under the stars with its first outdoor production for 2019: Disney’s “Newsies,” the Broadway musical.
The show is set to open Friday with performances Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m. through June 22. Tickets range from $10-$18 with all performances at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre, 600 S. 400 East in Orem. Get full details at http://scera.org/events/newsies.
Catch an outdoor film
With the weather warming up, it’s great to be outside, especially in the spring when it’s not too hot. Enjoy the sunset and the beauty of the outdoors while catching a movie at one of several outdoor movie screenings across Utah County happening this week.
The Cedar Hills Family Festival Outdoor Movie is set for Friday, featuring “Ralph Breaks the Internet” at Heritage Park Amphitheater, 4425 W. Cedar Hills Drive in Cedar Hills.
Also Friday is Lindon Movies in the Park, showing “Smallfoot” at City Center Park, 200 N. State St. in Lindon.
Both screenings are free to the public and begin at dusk, with more information on outdoor movies here.
