Carla Ann (Crouch) Ryan

1960-2019

Carla Ann (Crouch) Ryan, 59, passed away in her home in Payson, Utah, on June 1, 2019, surrounded by her family.

Carla was born January 23, 1960, to Oren “Bud” and Eunice (Ross) Crouch in Payson. She married Blake Alan Ryan on June 22, 1978. A lifelong Payson resident, Carla graduated from Payson High and was very involved in her family’s business, Crouch’s O.K. Service, keeping their accounts in order. She also planted and made floral arrangements at Olson’s Garden Shoppe during the last twenty years.

Love and light defined Carla’s life. Her family and friends can attest to that, and there’s nothing she loved more than her family. When she was fourteen years old, her mother passed away, and as a result, she took care of her father and younger brother at a very young age. With her own husband and children, she was the center of the family—its strong core. She supported her children in everything they did and continue to do. She was a fixture in the PTA; she spent countless hours helping her children with homework and driving them to sports practices and music lessons, among other things; she was always there to listen and to help. It’s a testament to Carla’s selflessness that so much of her life was about how she positively affected others. She loved her husband, Blake; together, they were truly the perfect couple. Perhaps nothing made her happier than spending time with her two grandchildren.

Carla’s positivity was palpable—always kind and always upbeat, she was the same person to her family as she was to her friends and to those she didn’t know as well. She lit up any room she entered. Not even a cancer diagnosis two-and-a-half years ago could dim her light. Throughout her ordeal, she never complained; she never acted differently than she did before her diagnosis. She fought. In death, she was an example of strength.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Oren “Bud” and Eunice (Ross) Crouch, and her son, Joshua. She is survived by her husband, Blake; her four children, Amber, Reilly (May), Cody (Hana), and Gavin; two grandchildren, Mason and Zadie; and her brothers, Gary, Joel, Roy, and Lon Crouch.
