Clyde LaVell Edwards Jr. passed away April 16, 2019, in Lindon, Utah, surrounded by his family after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Clyde was born in Provo, the son of Clyde Edwards Sr. and Beth Edwards. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. He married his childhood sweetheart, Karen Zabriskie in 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. They first met when Karen was in the 6th grade and Clyde was in the 8th.
He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, his words were quite profound. He was known as a man without guile by many of his friends. He could install or repair almost anything. He installed and repaired furnaces and air conditioners in large buildings such as the State Capital, banks, schools and temples as well as in homes and businesses. He was a wonderful neighbor and an even better friend. If neighbors and friends needed him, he would go to their house, fix the furnace or whatever was broken and then quietly leave, and they never got a bill—ever.
He served two missions, one as a Stake Missionary and one with his wife in North Carolina. He served in the bishopric, as a temple worker for seven years, young men’s president, scout leader, ward clerk and many other jobs.
He is the father of 4 sons. Byron (DeeAnn) of Lindon UT, Jerry (Julie) of Orem UT, Robert (Alana) of Draper UT, Grant (Denise) of Pleasant Grove UT. He has 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by two brothers, Richard and Kenneth Edwards, both of Orem. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Byron Edwards, two sisters, VerJean Mott and Lois Wilkins and a brother Paul Edwards.
