LaRae Jex Hamilton, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019, in Spanish Fork, Utah. LaRae was born June 26, 1933, in Spanish Fork to Ray Eugene and Sigrid (Sarah) Kamilla Larsen Jex. She attended Spanish Fork schools and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1951.
She married Roland Simmons Hamilton on January 19, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of four children. Her greatest accomplishment in life was being a homemaker and serving her family. LaRae also worked at City Drug, Del Monte, Forsey’s Variety, Evans Floral, Fritzi and had her own floral design business in her home.
LaRae had many talents, including, ceramics, oil painting, and gardening. She was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed boating and four wheeling. She enjoyed camping and celebrating her Danish heritage. She especially loved hosting parties and family activities. LaRae was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Primary President, Stake and Ward Relief Society President, Visiting Teaching and Compassionate Service Leader.
She is survived by her husband, Roland; children, Craig Roland (Melanie) Hamilton, Spanish Fork, Sharla Rae (Charles) Patterson, Tempe, AZ, Rand Lane (Kandace) Hamilton, Spanish Fork, and Lori Ann Hamilton, of Spanish Fork. She also leaves behind 12 beloved grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Arlene Jex and Karen Marie Clayson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Spanish Fork 1st Ward Chapel, 310 E. Center Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may visit on Friday evening, July 5, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, and on Saturday morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
