Patsy Selman Mullins

1934 – 2019

Patsy Selman Mullins, age 85, died on June 2, 2019 in Provo, Utah. She passed away peacefully and was surrounded by her family. Patsy was born in Payson, Utah on February 28, 1934 to Rebecca Eliza Olson and Royal Richmond Selman, and was one of 11 children. She married Wallace Bird on May 31, 1952. Wallace preceded her in death on March 13, 1954. Patsy then married Lawrence Mullins on August 14, 1958; Patsy and Larry were married for 60 years. Larry preceded Patsy in death on November 30, 2018.

Patsy was feisty and spoke her mind; you knew where you stood with her. She was also giving, loving, and willing to share what she had with those she loved. Patsy lived life to the fullest. Her pastimes included talking and laughing with friends, especially her best friend, Joan, history, reading and learning, being in nature, playing tag with skunks, feeding birds, and having water fights with anyone (willing or unwilling) that would join in. Patsy’s hands were rarely still. She quilted, sewed, painted, gardened, and spent countless hours making the world a beautiful place. Her greatest joy was her family. Patsy loved her children and grandchildren, and her happiest times were those spent with the family she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Beth, La Rae, Dorothy, Barbara, Bud, and Richard. She is survived by her siblings, Joan, Mary, Georgia, and Frank; children, Kathy (Alan) DeWitt, Ann (Barry) Larsen, Sue (Randy) Anderson, Larry (Bonnie) Mullins, Tracy Myers, Aaron Mullins, Danny (Melissa) Mullins, and Hannah (Steven) Cutler. Her family includes 26 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Lakeside 14th Ward Chapel, 2530 West 200 South, Provo, Utah. Family, friends, and others that knew and loved Patsy are invited to reminisce, grieve, laugh, and visit at the church Thursday, June 6 from 6-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.

The family offers a thank you to the staff at Aspen Ridge, neighbors, and the members of the Lakeside 14th Ward who helped Patsy. Special thanks and love to Missy Mullins for all that she did and the kind person she is. Patsy is loved dearly and will be remembered for her positive outlook on life’s difficulties, as well as her tenacity, humor, and undying love for her family. She was our sunshine. So, anyway…
