Allen D Evans, 86, of Spanish Fork, Utah passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2019 in Payson, Utah. Allen was born April 13, 1933 in Spanish Fork to Daniel R. and Jane Benson Evans. He grew up working on the family farm, farming, and raising cattle with his Dad and Grandpa. He loved his hometown and the people he associated with. He is a graduate of Spanish Fork High School. He also took vocational classes after graduating where he learned many valuable skills.
Allen served in the U.S Army during the Korean War. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was always willing to serve his friends and neighbors.
He married Darlene Johnson and they are the parents of four children. They were later divorced but remained good friends. His family was his greatest blessing.
He worked at various jobs, including a projectionist at several movie theaters, Del Monte, Ironton Research Lab, Gridley Chevrolet in Spanish Fork, Llewellyn Plumbing, and as a District Manager for The Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News. His favorite job, though, was Evans Excavating, which he owned and operated for 40 years. He took pride in his business and enjoyed working with his three sons.
Allen was active in the community as a member of the Jaycees, Skyline Barbershop Quartet, and as an emcee at many events. He enjoyed carpentry, and was an expert handyman. He liked trains and kept an old train set for years. He was always smiling and made friends easily.
He is survived by his children, Stacy Evans (Paul) Bliss; Steven D. Evans; Kelly R. Evans, and Randall Allen (Tawhnye) Evans; stepchildren, Russell (Selena) Gatenby, Cheryl (Les) Brown and their children; two brothers, Blaine Evans, and Gary (Cheryl) Evans; and a brother-in-law, Bob Lewis. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, who adore him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, JoAnn Lewis.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Palmyra Stake Center Chapel, 585 East 900 North, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may visit on Monday evening, June 3, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah, and on Tuesday, morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
