A bright shining star grew dim before its time.
Zachary Michael Lees passed away peacefully on January 28, 2019.
He was born on January 25, 1989 in Provo, Utah. Zach grew up in Utah County, but called Payson his home.
Zach loved his family, and his true joy was his children. He was so proud of them, and his favorite moments were spent in laughter with his loved ones.
His love of bagpipes began in the year 2000 at a Scottish Festival in Spokane, Washington. This inspired him to start a non-profit band; The Garden Valley Pipeband, and also led him to finding a way to make learning piping and drumming affordable to everyone. He enjoyed sharing his passion for music.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Lees; his children, Michael, Elyanna, and Viola; his parents, Valarie (Brent) Frost, Brian (Roxi) Lees, and David Scarpino; his siblings, Kody (Cameel), Joshua (Crystal), Jake (Lacey), Audriana, and Matt (Heather); his parents in law, Doug and Annette Rawlinson; grandparents, Mike and Gloria Steele; his brothers and sister in laws, his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are all going to miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Ralph and Beth Steele, Steven Lees, and great-grandparents Fred and Mildred Lees, and Clyde and Julia Wall.
The funeral will be held at the LDS Church (700S 600E, Payson) Monday, February 4, at 11 am. The viewing will be held at the Walker Funeral Home (587S 100W, Payson) on Sunday, February 3, from 6 pm to 8 pm and again from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church.
