The Utah County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking Jose Acosta-Miran, last known to live in the Salt Lake City area, for five warrants for his arrest.

The case is peculiar for the sheriff’s office because with each warrant, Acosta-Marin, 29, has a different alias, plus about another dozen aliases.

The most heinous of his counts, also the only warrant originating in Utah County, comes from two incidents of rape that reportedly occurred in early 2009.

Acosta-Miran’s first count of rape occurred when he went into his child’s mother’s room in Provo and told her he wanted to have sex with her immediately. She told him no. However, according to police reports, he grabbed her hair, pushed her to the ground and forcibly had sex with her.

A few months later, the victim and Acosta-Miran, who was using the alias Jose Rosario-Galaviz at the time, were reportedly in a parked car in Provo, and he again said he wanted to have sex right then and there. She refused again, but he then dragged her over the passenger seat into the back seat with him to have forcible sex with her.

The events did not become known to police until September 2013. Pam Bair of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said Acosta-Marin has been deported at least once.

He was never arrested for the two counts of rape, a first-degree felony. A warrant for his arrest was issued in October 2013.

Acosta-Miran has been described as having brown hair and brown eyes, is about 5-foot-6 and weighs about 160 pounds.

His second warrant, issued under the alias of Daniel Ortega, is for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intention to distribute, a first-degree felony; obstructing justice, a second-degree felony; interference with an arresting officer, a class B misdemeanor; and giving false information to a police officer, a class C misdemeanor.

His third warrant, issued under the alias Fernando Baez, is for one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a second-degree felony.

His fourth warrant, issued under the alias Martin Madragon, is for identical charges as the third warrant.

His fifth warrant, issued under the alias Ricardo Valdez-Munoz, is for one count of attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a third-degree felony.

He has about a dozen other aliases, including Fernando Cortez, Eleazar Saalazar, Ricky Munoz and variants of these names.

If you have any information on Acosta-Miran of any of the other people listed in this report, call Pam Bair at the Utah County Sheriff’s Office at (801) 851-4065.
